Gemma's Apprenticeship programme lasted from 2002 until 2004, during which time she completed all levels of her NVQ and she has now gone on to begin a part-time B.Eng (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering. She is keen to dispel any myths or preconceptions young females may have about engineering, and to highlight the many opportunities available to them.

Gemma says her Apprenticeship programme has boosted her self-confidence and independence. She regularly coaches a children's rugby team in her spare time.

'My Apprenticeship programme has helped me achieve my dream of going to university to study engineering.'
