Options

When you progress into Year 9 at school, you will be asked to make some choices about the subjects you want to study as you move into Year 10. Some subjects are compulsory due to the National Curriculum, but there is some flexibility for you to tailor your GCSEs so that you are studying subjects that you enjoy and are good at!

Subjects that are compulsory include: Maths, English and Science. Different schools will offer different combinations of option choices - speak to your teachers for more information.

Key Skills are also really important and cover areas like communication, information technology and application of number. These will be developed during your time at school, and later when you move on, and will be important when applying for jobs, training or courses in the future.
